Step Brothers

Ricky (cute canine sportin' the medallion) and his handsome sidekick Sam, are immortalized in this oil painting... just for the fun of it.

This was the custom painting request: "I would like them to have the serious expressions but just have fun with it… How would you feel about doing it more so to the style of the stepbrothers movie poster?"

Jumble Jubilee

It's been a little while since posting. I've been busy painting many custom oil portraits meant as gifts (not yet given). Don't want to take the chance of ruining any surprises, so here's a fun visual jumble.

Also up on my easel have been various paintings re my other blog/new project called "A Street  View A Day". Check it out: www.astreetviewaday.blogspot.com

"He (Rottweiler Kingston) looks regal, and I think a crown would look nice on top of his head..."

Royal Kitty

Princess Phoebe:
"She is quite the princess and is very fussy… and despite her size, she's tough and feisty! Phoebe is an elegant kitty, and whenever she trots, she's light on her feet. She also has a gentle side and will curl up into a ball to be petted and caressed. She is a cutie! :)"

Figaro Strikes A Pose

Found this while doing some Google Image Searches.
Artist Alfred de Dreux (1810~1860) must've had fun painting this one...

The Color Purple

Red & blue makes purple, Right?

Well, yes, but...

You've got your cadmium reds, napthol reds, quinacridone reds...
You've got your phaltho blue, ultramarine blue, prussian blue, cerelean blue...

After all these decades of painting & color mixing, I finally found a combination for a really great purple: alizarian crimson & paynes gray. Yep!
